Upgrading Your Toshiba Notebook Parts

by David Swanson

Some Advice About Toshiba notebook Parts

Eventually your computer will probably breakdown or may need some type of repair, or you may just want to upgrade and replace you major components to the latest current technology. This can be done fairly easily with a desktop computer however with a Toshiba laptop it could be a little more challenging. But there are some upgrades that can be done yourself using either Toshiba parts or even generic parts but there are other upgrades that should be left to the professionals.

So lets look at some typical situations and see if we have a dead notebook or if you can use Toshiba notebook parts to repair it.

Common Laptop Upgrades

By consulting your owners manual or going online you should be able to determine what parts can be upgraded or replaced in your laptop. Usually the hard drive as well as the memory can be upgraded. If you have the knowledge to handle the upgrades yourself you will save some money, otherwise it is best to let a professional do it.

When it comes to memory you are probably better off using genuine Toshiba notebook parts on that but hard drives are made by other manufacturers and you need to check your manual for compatibility.

Notebook screens are not upgradeable. You would need a whole new notebook for that which, for some reason, is really difficult to get some people to understand. Trust me, you cannot upgrade your screen to a 17" screen in your existing notebook.

Dead Laptop

Notebooks have come a long way from the days when just the slightest movement could damage the hard drive but they are still very fragile. Dropping a notebook that is not in a protective case will probably cause serious damage to the circuits. Even a protective case is not a guarantee of the notebook surviving and there isn't any amount of Toshiba notebook parts in the world that will save a drowned notebook that wasn't meant to swim.

Repairable Parts.

Defective notebook screens can usually be repaired although in some case they may not be repaired. Other componets such as the power supply and battery can be replaced if necessary.

The DVD drive and CD-Rom can be replaced or upgraded using Toshiba notebook parts.
