Wonder about expectations for your Holiday Dinner
What to Expect on a Thanksgiving Vacation
Thanksgiving is the season for expressing thanks, but it’s hard to feel grateful when you remember the usual hassles accompanying this holiday. Cooking is the biggest challenge and in most cases, it unfortunately falls on just one or two women’s shoulders to prepare a huge feast for the entire group. And then there’s the matter of preparing the home to accommodate all visiting relatives and loved ones.
Spend Thanksgiving Away from Home
If you need a hassle-free weekend this Thanksgiving, treat yourself and family to a relaxing weekend vacation for the holiday. Here are a couple vacation possibilities to give you an idea of what to look for.
Bolton, Landing, New York:
The Sagamore This Lake George establishment has a variety of special vacation deals to offer. Expect to incur at least $349 plus tax but this also comes with breakfast and, of course, a Thanksgiving meal. Kids under 18 may stay in your suite without extra fees and if those with three-night bookings can stay for an fourth night for free. Excellent New York City Attractions!
Crested Butte, Connecticut:
Resort Quest - Call the number for Resort Quest, request the Crested Butte Thanksgiving Package, and families of four will pay less than $800 to ski their way to their two-bedroom condo and includes use of lift tickets for three beautify days. But first you have to pray that winter comes early for you to experience this Connecticut tourism wonder!
Florida: Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort and Amelia Island
Groups of four won’t have to expend more than $180 when they go to the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort. The 2,400-acre resort promises a comfortable night’s stay in a 2-bedroom condo and endless entertainment for all the family with their teen zone, boogie boarding, kayaking, a visit from St. Nick, and various other family-oriented activities.
In Amelia Island, you’ll just have to pay $50 for a one-night escape and the privilege to pretend that Thanksgiving took place in summer while you sail off in a rented boat or play tennis or golf under the warm Florida sky. A wonderful vacation in Florida!
New York: Regency Hotel
A suite large enough for six to eight persons can be had as low as $539. Dinner at the hotel is priced at $49 with a 50% discount for children but you can always have the hotel deliver your Thanksgiving meal for you and seven other guests in your suite. Don’t forget to watch Macy’s annual Thanksgiving Day parade.
Orlando, Florida:
Walt Disney World Magic is floating in the air once you step inside the Walt Disney World. Suites are quite affordable, starting at just $39 but you should also consider various bundles that include discounted theme park tickets. To celebrate in the tradition of Thanksgiving, watch out for holiday fireworks and parades as well as the tree-lighting ceremony held every night.
